Landmark Moments
In issue 09 of Design Anthology UK, we’ve taken a good, long look into the past. We decamped to the beautifully restored Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester for a shoot of of-the-moment design pieces for autumn. The Grade-II listed building, former home of The Refuge Assurance Company, tells the story of a prospering city at the tail end of the 19th century, when construction began in 1891.
Built in the 1890s as an assurance brokerage and now a new boutique bolthole for Manchester, the Kimpton Clocktower hotel is a sumptuously restored example of the city’s gilded age of industrial wealth.
